All right so here goes. This is my first ever blog. My first ever outlet for all of the creativity, whining, and opinions that I usually just spew on innocent bystanders. As far as purpose, every week I plan to grab an issue (broad or specific), tear it apart, and hopefully present you with a new idea or new avenues for discussion. Because, above all, I demand undiluted, undisputed truth whether that is attainable or not. And, as Einstein succinctly said, "Blind faith in authority is the greatest enemy of truth"; so we will delve into the realms of the politically incorrect as well as those parcels of fact which have not been questioned since their inception. Once in a while, I plan to just opine about the state of America or life today in way that will incorporate some of the previous topics that I hope you guys are interested enough to read. I chose the name "arete" because it was the Greek precursor for the Renaissance "virtu" that led such boundary-breakers as Machiavelli to push beyond known realms. While its definition is somewhat ambiguous, it is meant to mean roughly "goodness" with an unambiguous reverence to "living to one's full potential" according to Wikipedia and a course I took. Recently it was found that the Brittanica encyclopedia had as many errors on it as Wikipedia and so I deem this correct enough. Either way, you all can see where I come from with my screenname relating to the pursuit of truth.
